On the Matter of Errata to Voss, Principles of Thanatological Classification (Third Impression): Corrigenda Filed Under Registry Mark IX.ccxlvii
Marginal notation in a later hand: cf. suppl. vi, f. 38r — cross-ref. not yet entered in main index as of this quarter's closing.
The Academy's Subcommittee on Taxonomic Integrity, acting under standing authority granted by the Archivist-General's Office per convention of the sixty-first year of continuous institutional record, hereby enters the following corrigenda into the permanent roll against the volume cited above.
I. At Chapter IV, paragraph the third, line the seventh: the term ambulant cadaverous as applied to the Syndicate-associated revenants of the Gateward district is imprecise and should be struck. The correct designation per the current classification is secondary-reanimated, faction-affiliated (political), ambulant. The prior term was adequate for the survey conditions obtaining at the time of Voss's first impression but has since been superseded by the Subcommittee's ruling of the forty-eighth year. v. suppl. xxiv, ruling in extenso.
II. At Appendix C, the table of re-animation indices attributed to the lower crypts of the Auldgate district: two entries are disputed by the field notes of Archivist-Correspondent Fehn (ref. IX.ccxliv, filed same quarter). Fehn's count diverges from Voss's by a factor that the Subcommittee has not yet resolved. Both figures are retained in the appendix pending resolution. Readers are advised that neither set of figures should be cited in new monographs without explicit acknowledgment of the dispute. v. IX.ccxliv passim.
III. The bibliographic citation at note 38 of Chapter VII is malformed. The correct reference is: Marvaine, T., Observations on Cortical Persistence in Long-Interval Cases (Second Impression), Academy Press, year 691. The third impression cited by Voss does not exist. Error introduced at second impression of Voss; carried uncorrected into third.
These corrigenda are entered as of the fourteenth day of the current academic quarter.
Sealed and filed under the double-rule per convention: | IX.ccxlvii |
